Tony Wright is best known as the lead singer of Terrorvision, who had hits in the 1990s with Oblivion, Perseverance and Tequila, amongst many others. He’s recently embarked on a solo career, with his second album coming soon through PledgeMusic. Terrorvision, meanwhile, will be back on the road later this year for a tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of classic album Regular Urban Survivors, which Tone promises will deliver ‘tinnitus and shin splints’.
This is his music…
What is your favourite song of all time?
Today it is After The Goldrush by Neil Young
Can you remember when you fell in love with it?
When I heard the line ‘thinking about what a friend had said, hoping it was a lie’ …sounds to me like I was probably 15 or so
Has a song or album ever changed your life?
Making ‘How To Make Friends…’ changed my life.
If you could only listen to five albums for the rest of time, what would they be?
I’d probably chose nothing if I was told to chose.
How much of your day do you spend listening to music?
Mainly in the car, listening to mixes and working on songs. Sometimes I get my old vinyl on and have it in the background… Quite a bit actually but cos it’s there I don’t notice how much… Like how green is grass????
What’s your ideal time and place for listening to music?
I like listening in my van but always prefer playing…
What’s the best gig/show you’ve ever been to?
Guns’n’Roses at Donington, Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Leeds Uni, that’s today’s choice but probably the one I come up with most.
Approximately how big is your music collection? And in what format?
Not big enough if you ask me, too big if you ask the house… I like my old vinyl as I got it when I was about 13 and still waiting for folk to make better music no matter what the format… Some folk have got in there, it’s not all old stuff 🙂
What does music mean to you?
Escape, freedom, primal…
What song should we all go and listen to right now to make our day better?
Changes… David Bowie
