Selecting a Top Albums Of The Year list is always tricky because it’s very easy to be swayed by seeing other lists in magazines, newspapers and websites. If they all pretty much have the same album at Number 1, who am I to disagree? But then again, this is my list on my website, so I’m afraid the wonderful P.J. Harvey will just have to settle for second place.
I’ll be doing a Top 20 Albums Of The Year piece soon, but in the meantime I thought I’d do a quick Top 10 Songs, made up of the 10 tracks that have meant most to me this year. Some of them will be appearing on my top albums, others won’t, but I love them all…
I was one of the people lucky enough to experience Björk’s Biophilia show during the Manchester International Festival earlier this year, so I’ve been excitedly waiting for the album to come out. Even more so than I would have been anyway, as a huge fan of one of the most talented innovators in modern pop music.
It’s unseasonably hot in the UK at the moment, but now that it’s October, we’re already well into the countdown to the end of the year and thoughts are starting to drift towards those lists we all love to make of our favourite music/films/whatever of 2011. But there’s still some contenders to be released, so here’s the five albums I’m most looking forward to.
